Bio

I am a first-generation United States born daughter of immigrant of Trinidadian parents and family base.  My mother migrated to Canada and then the US in the early seventies. I come from a long line of very strong and determined women and men within a large family. “Family” is very important to me both the ones we are born with and the ones we choose. I had a very rough upbringing with one trauma after another, my first being my flight to the United States where I was separated from my older sisters.

Several years later I attended the funeral of my mother who was murdered when I turned ten. My culture is a big part of who I am, and it extends to how I interact with others. I would say that my biggest accomplishment in life was the birth and raising of my daughter into an amazing, giving human being. I also am very proud of the Feminine Hygiene Product Drive I started five years ago to give back to females that are homeless. I have a BS in Government from Suffolk University and started my MA/MBA programs at Suffolk/Keller Graduate School.

I was a victim of childhood molestation and as an adult I was raped twice, in telling my story and surviving daily I help others reclaim their lives. I was diagnosed with stage four Endometriosis and Ovarian Cysts when I turned twelve and had the first of many surgeries. I live to advocate for others because of my life experiences especially women and children to help their voices become stronger in ways mine was weak. I started my non-profit because I wanted to help others like myself.

Caribbean Curvy Strong, is a non-profit organization in Massachusetts that advocates, educates, inspires, motivates and empowers people of all ages by focusing on health and wellness issues relating to Endometriosis and Sexual Violence. Our primary Endometriosis based focuses are those individuals who live in pain from their condition on a daily basis or those individuals who have not yet been diagnosed.

Our core Sexual Violence initiatives focus on educational and healing resources for people who have been victims of Sexual Violence, and support tools for those who are supporting someone through this rough time.

I love to cook, being in my kitchen relaxes me more than anything else. Being able to create food that nourishes and makes others happy is amazing.

In my spare time I love to travel, write poetry and dance; I also love to curl up anywhere with a good book and while John Grisham is my favorite author, I will read anything I can get my hands on. The role models that have gotten me through life are Ghandi and Mother Teresa. Ghandi’s strength of purpose inspired me at a young age to never give up and to keep pushing especially if it is something, I believe in. Mother Teresa motivated me to treat others the way I wanted to be treated and to be giving of myself to the benefit of others.
